Hiking

Here is the basic plan…

8:00 AM - Meet @ Redmond Target (at the end of 520) and carpool to Mt Si from there.
9:00 AM - Everyone should be ready to hit the trail by this point. Bo will lead us up.
11:00 AM -12:00 PM - Arrive at top, each lunch, play, take pictures, etc then head back down.
2:00 PM - Say goodbye to Mt. Si and head back to carpool meeting area.

The hike is approx 4 miles in length and climbs 4000 ft in elevation. Not too bad. It usually takes newbies like me 2-3  hours to get up and up to 2 hours to get down.

Pack 1-2 litres of water and a lite lunch. Grab some trail mix if you want energy on the way up.

Bring your camera if you want to take pics (I will be bringing mine).

Avoid wearing cotton. Wear good shoes if you have them.

My friend and coworker, Bo, has a good deal of experience so he will lead us up. He will also bring some other group essentials, which I’ll let him detail when he responds to this thread.

This timeframe is pretty much our open window to fit most people schedules, so I hope it works. The carpool meeting point is Redmond centric, but it can be moved elsewhere to accommodate peoples proximity. Just be vocal about it in this email if you have opinions.

Finally, I’d like everyone to respond to the thread with their cell number and a quick blurb about themselves (2 sentence max) so we can start to get to know eachother better. I’ll start:

Hi I’m Sean. 206.910.8333. You all know me. :) Haha!

Be vocal about who you are bringing with you too. Friends, wives, girlfriends, pet dogs are welcome. No children please.

Thanks,

Sean.

I suppose I can go first since I only know Sean & Chuck.

Who am I?
My name is Bo - I work with Sean on the Zune team at Microsoft during the days and moonlight as a husband and father when I’m not in Redmond. I live down in Seattle (so I won’t be carpooling with y’all) in the Belltown neighborhood. For hiking/mountaineering - I used to be an avid hiker/backpacker/mountaineer before getting married and having a child, but that time has faded a bit as of late. I’ve been up many of the peaks in the Cascades and Olympics - the largest in the area being Rainier back in 2005 when I climbed with a couple of friends from church. Look forward to meeting you all on Sunday.

Confirmed?
of course - see you at the trailhead

I’m Michael,

I know Sean and Jonathan thru our integrated men’s group.  I’ve been and stay-at-home dad for 5 1/2 years and will be starting a new job at Sound Transit in the next week or so.  I walk 2-5 miles a day and live in Burien.  I plan on meeting for the carpool.

Hey,

I’m Jonathan and know Sean and Michael from our men’s group.  I like to hike and live in Seattle, but will be coming over for the carpooling (I’m assuming it’s a big parking lot, where should we go and what should we be looking for?  I drive a green Chrysler Cirrus.)  Cell: 206/240-6674

See you Sunday,
Jonathan

I’m glad I finally checked my email. This week’s been crazy so I’ve
been effectively off-the-grid for over a week. I’d love to join, and
most likely I should be able to. I will let you know for sure one way
or another tomorrow. If I go, I will try to meet you guys at your
carpool point, but failing that I will just meet you at the trailhead.

By the way, 2-3 hours is not a bad time for Mt Si. In fact, 2 hours
would be a pretty ambitious goal for newbies in good shape :)

There is a good chance that Sunday will be reasonably dry around North
Bend. Which means that haystack (at the top of Mt Si) should be easily
climable, should the group want to do that. It’s a small scramble that
takes no longer than 1/2 hour in good weather, and the views are to
die for.

By the way of introduction, Hi, I am Vlad. I come from a place far,
far away :) And I like the outdoors. I know only two people on this
list — Sean and Scott. My cell# is 206-384-7312.

Hope to see you all later!

Vlad
