Fall Pilots Posted on September 17th

This weekend I noticed that the Amazon Unbox feature of my Tivo had free downloads of some of the fall pilots being release in a few weeks. I took notice to Bionic Woman and the Journeyman. Both are NBC shows, which if you watch Jay Leno you’ll hear him joke about how bad the network has been doing as of late. Perhaps a nice idea to kick start a new show by offering it free on Tivo? Well, it’s worked on me. I’ve added both these shows to my season pass because I enjoyed both pilots.

Bionic Woman (BW), I’m sure, is a remake of an old show. I’ve never seen the old one so I have no idea how it compares in terms of story, characters, premise, etc. What I did notice though was that Katee Sackhoff  and Aaron Douglas have made appearances in the pilot. You may know them better as Starbuck and Tyrol from the very sweet and successful Battlestar Galatica series on Sci-Fi. Two shows, two remakes. I do worry about BW being on NBC. Historyically, sci-fi does not last on the big 3 networks during primetime. Battlestar worked because it was created for Sci-Fi… tuned in by many geeks like myself. BW is very sci-fi like, but they attempt to broaden themselves a bit with a love story, etc, etc. I enjoyed it. It was fun. I see lots of potential. Oh! The best part is that Miguel Ferrer of Robocop fame plays a very similar character to his Robocop Bob Morton. Good times! I hope the show does well in the ratings because I’d like to see more. If it does get cancelled, perhaps Sci-Fi will pick it up. :)

Here is a preview:

Journeyman was surprisingly enjoyable. I’ll let the preview do the talking but it’s basically this dude that gets thrown around time to track people and change the future… sort of like Quantum Leap, but different. I hope this one gets to stick around too.

Oh boy!

Sean.
