UltraViolet Posted on March 15th

Saturday night my friend Eli came up from McMinnville Oregon to chill wit’ me. Among eating some tasty food at the Alderwood Claim Jumper and taking advantage of the sweet massage chairs at Brookstone, we saw UltraViolet.

This futuristic vision of society was quite good! Don’t want to say much about it, but it is full of guns, swords, holograms and lots of crazy cool technology (like being able to pull a katana or endless amounts of guns or ammo from you pocket ).

The movie was quite visually stunning. Everything, including the people, has a CG feel to it. Actually, when the movie first started and panned over a city I instantly complained that the buildings looked CG (normally good CG is indistinguishable from what looks real). Then I noticed that the people looked stylized with CG and I realized that it was how things were supposed to look. So I took back my complaint about the buildings. A lot of things were very vibrant in color, like Milla Jovovich’s hair changing all the time. Even more vibrant that the 5th Element.

Admittedly, parts of the story confused me, but overall I like what was told. An excellent vision of a corrupt future.

9 / 10 Dynamically changing hair colors.

Sean.
