She Walks! Posted on May 31st

It’s official, Ava is walking on her own now! w00t!

One of the many things you learn as you become a parent is that there is no exact time when specific developmental events occur. For example, the range for a baby to start walking on their own ( unassisted by people or furnature ) is 9 - 18 months. Ava is 16 months at the time of this writing. She seems to be excelling quite nicely in the brainy areas and a little on the end side when it comes to mobility. She has great hand eye coordination and has a vocab of 30+ words. Probably more. But she crawled for a very long time. She’s actually walked assisted for a long time too, but she’s not wanted walk on her own. I’m actually quite happy it’s taken as long for her to build the confidence to walk on her own. There are many sources, including my sister Lisa who studies child dev, that show crawling really helps the brain develop. In fact they are getting results from mentally handicap adults put into crawling programs. Interesting. So I’m happy it took this long, but I’m also happy it’s finally here! She’s the most fun little cutie pie on the planet ( soon to be rivaled by Freshy ) and she’s just that much more fun walking!

Papa Sean.

PS Say this as fast as you can:

Sven said, "Ted, send ten tents,"
Ted said, "Sven, send ten cents."
When Sven sent Ted ten cents,
Then Ted sent Sven ten tents.

See it in action!
